COERR Organized Community Special Event - International Day for The Elimination of
Violence Against Women in Mae La Temporary Shelter

“International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” falls on November 25th every year. This year, COERR Mae Sot organized a Special Event Campaign in coordination with the Karen Women Organization and Anti-Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Group in Mae La Temporary Shelter, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, to raise awareness and convince people in this community about the problem of using violence that threatened women and girls all over the world.

This campaign aims at convincing women and girls as well as the community that they must neither remain silent nor neglect whenever violent situation has happened. They must avoid it and report to society for further precaution!

COERR, as an organization that has been working to assist and empower women, children and families of the vulnerable unaccompanied minors, took this opportunity to convince the community about the needs to pay special attention to children, especially, those who are separated from parents and have been living with relatives or others people in Mae La Temporary Shelter. These separated children are at risk of being deserted and exploited in any incidents that might cause physical, psychological or social consequences to them.

There were about 500 displaced persons in Mae La Temporary Shelter participating in the campaign that was launched on November 25th, 2019, to end domestic violence.

”Domestic Violence continues to threaten women and girls’ right to achieve equality, development and peace.”
